BACKGROUND
The City of Sachse's contract with Community Waste Disposal (CWD) provides for $1,000.00 to be used for a scholarship to a local youth residing in Sachse. This is the 8th year for the City of Sachse scholarship. Staff received 21 applications this year. Staff met and reviewed the applications and narrowed those down to the top four candidates for the City Council to review.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council discuss, review, and select a recipient for the 2021 City of Sachse Scholarship.

The Texas City Management Association's annual awards program recognizes and honors outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to local government in Texas. Ms. Nash was recently announced as the recipient of the Mentoring Award in honor of Gary Gywn. This award recognizes the city management professional who has made significant contributions in the development of new talent and/or who has designed and implemented outstanding career development programs for local government employees.
OVERVIEW
The Texas City Management Association is the statewide association for city management professionals. Jon Fortune, Assistant City Manager for the City of Dallas and President of the North Texas City Management Association will present the award to Ms. Nash.
