Meeting
Apr 4, 2022 - City Council Combined Meeting

Discussion, Information

BACKGROUND

"The War for Talent" is a term that was coined in 2021 to reflect the significant shift in employment trends following the COVID-19 pandemic. PricewaterhouseCoopers conducted a study of these employment trends, which indicates that employees are leaving their jobs at historic rates to work in places with better pay and better benefits. The top reason employees are leaving in this "Great Resignation" is compensation, with benefits following close behind as the second reason.

The purpose of this presentation is to start a conversation with the City Council about how this global market trend is impacting the City of Sachse from a national, regional, and local level.

OVERVIEW

As other municipalities and organizations are evaluating changes to their organizational practices, compensation, and benefits, the City of Sachse recommends investigating options to remain market competitive to continue attracting the best quality public servants for its residents.

POLICY CONSIDERATIONS

There are no policy considerations affiliated with this item.
