HE DID PASS AWAY ON JUNE THE 6TH AT THE AGE OF 89. HE DID SERVE THE CITY OF SACHSE FOR MORE THAN A DECADE, FIRST ON THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION FROM 1987 TO 1992. HE WAS ON CITY COUNCIL FROM 1992 TO 1999, AGAIN SERVING ONE TERM AS MAYOR PRO TEM. HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING THE OUTDOOR WARNING SYSTEM TO SACHSE, AND WE SEE THAT TODAY. AND IT'S JUST A REALLY MONUMENTAL, ALMOST AHEAD OF HIS TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT WE NEEDED THAT. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE RACES TEAM, AND HE WAS A DEDICATED AMATEUR RADIO OPERATOR, AND WE ARE SO SORRY THAT HE IS NO LONGER WITH US. AND WE HAD OVER 74,000 VISITORS AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. SO THAT 74,000, THAT INCLUDES PEOPLE THAT COME THROUGH FOR CLASSES, PEOPLE THAT HAVE MEMBERSHIPS THAT CHECK IN, PEOPLE THAT JUST COME IN AND DROP IN. IT ALSO INCLUDES RESERVATIONS BECAUSE WE DO RESERVATIONS ON THE WEEKENDS. AND WE HAVE, THOSE ARE PRETTY WELL ATTENDED ON THOSE RESERVATIONS, AS WELL AS SPECIAL EVENTS THAT WE HAVE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. WE'VE HAD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WE HAD OVER 32,000 ATTENDEES AT OUR SPECIAL EVENTS, AND OUR 2025 NUMBERS ARE TRENDING UP ON MEMBERSHIPS AND DAILY CHECK INS AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. SO WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2025. SO WE'VE ALREADY KIND OF STARTED 2025. STAFF'S DOING THESE MONTHLY CELEBRATIONS, WHICH ARE REALLY EXCITING, LIKE NATIONAL SCRIBBLE DAY. SO ON NATIONAL WALKING DAY WE HANDED OUT FREE TOWELS WHEN YOU CAME IN. NATIONAL FITNESS DAY, EVERYONE THAT VISITED THE COMMUNITY CENTER GOT TO COME IN FOR FREE. SO WE'RE DOING THESE THINGS AND WE'RE GOING TO KEEP DOING THEM, EVERY MONTH SOMETHING'S NEW. THE TEEN RISE PROGRAM WE'RE DEFINITELY CONTINUING. THE LAST ONE THAT WE HAD FINISHED THE TEEN MECHANICS AND THE TEEN VOLUNTEER SERIES. I THINK WE HAD 25 KIDS IN THE TEEN MECHANICS CLASSES. ALEX TAUGHT THAT ONE, AND IT WAS A REALLY GOOD TIME FOR THEM. THEY LEARNED AS BASICS OF CAR CARE, THINGS ABOUT CHANGING YOUR OIL, CHANGING TIRES, THINGS THAT THEY NEED TO KNOW AS THEY GROW AND MOVE ON TO DRIVING VEHICLES. I KNOW PARENTS REALLY APPRECIATED THAT CLASS FOR THEIR KIDS FREE CLASS WEEK. THIS WAS VERY POPULAR. WE HAD A WHOLE WEEK FREE CLASSES.
